How do I introduce Isabel to you guys?! She has been in my thoughts for quite sometime and I was waiting for the right yarn and when Lynlee sent me half a skein of Dream in Color Baby yarn in Jungle colorway,it felt right to make Ishbel with it! It took me 5 days to complete Isabel , working 4 - 5 hrs everyday. It was an exhilarating experience to work on this shawl. I knew I had half a skein of the yarn which meant 350 yards of it and the pattern required 330 yards of lace-weight yarn. But still, I had a few breath-stopping "will-the-yarn-be-enough-or-am-I-doomed??" moments! But, I finished the shawl with a lotsa yarn to spare. Phew!
So, let me not waste time to present Isabel to you.
Here are the stats:
Pattern: Ishbel by Ysolda Teague
Yarn: Baby by Dream in Color in Jungle colorway
Started: June 1st,2009
Finished: June 5th,2009
It is a gorgeous pattern and a very well-written one. Ysolda has done an awesome job creating it. I made it in the small size as I had yarn only enough for the small version. I finished it in 5 days. I took a week long hiatus from the swallowtail shawl I am knitting for Shilpa aka crochetress in Ravelry as I couldn't put Isabel down once I started it. I stayed monogamous all through this shawl without working on any other knitting or crochet projects. ;-) I must say that I am pleasantly surprised and shocked as its very unlike me! I can not work on a single project at a time! Here are some more snaps of Isabel:
This is my first time working with lace-weight yarn and the shawl is so light and delicate! I am hooked on lace for life! Here is a picture which shows the color of the yarn close to reality.
And, as to why I call her Isabel; Every time I came across Ishbel, I was reminded of the name Isabel. So, I named the shawl Isabel!
On another note, the swallowtail shawl I am knitting for Shilpa(crochetress) is coming along lovely. She sent me this awesome mohair yarn to knit this shawl for her and who am I to say no to an opportunity to work with mohair?! I am glad she asked me. The yarn is so soft that its like working with cloud. I love the color of it too. I am done with 8 repeats of the budding lace repeats and its going fast and easy. Here is a pic of the work in progress:
So, my knitter-ly life is doing real good and I am keeping it hectic with lotsa lace knitting! I am crocheting(is dat a word!??!) a cardigan for myself... Its coming along fine but, more on that on another post!
